Corydoras Ornatus 4cm Catfish Overview: The Corydoras Ornatus is a captivating and peaceful freshwater fish, known for its striking black and yellow patterned body. This small-sized catfish reaches up to 2.5 inches in length, making it an ideal addition to community tanks. With its bottom-dwelling nature, it actively scavenges the substrate, contributing to a cleaner and healthier aquarium environment. Origin: Native to South America, particularly the waterways of Brazil, the Corydoras Ornatus thrives in slow-moving rivers and streams. Its natural habitat is characterized by soft, sandy bottoms with plenty of hiding spots among driftwood and vegetation. Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, the Corydoras Ornatus requires a balanced diet. A mix of high-quality sinking pellets or tablets, along with occasional offerings of frozen or live foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp, ensures proper nutrition. They are also known to graze on algae and detritus, aiding in tank maintenance. Tank Mates: Ideal for community aquariums, Corydoras Ornatus gets along well with similarly sized, non-aggressive fish. Good tank mates include tetras, rasboras, guppies, and other peaceful community fish. Avoid housing them with large, aggressive species that may see them as prey or competition. Aggression: This species is renowned for its peaceful and sociable demeanor. They prefer the company of their own kind and thrive in small groups or shoals. Keeping them in groups of at least five will encourage natural behavior and reduce stress. Experience Level: Corydoras Ornatus is suitable for aquarists of all experience levels. Their hardy nature and ease of care make them a great choice for beginners, while their unique appearance and behavior appeal to experienced hobbyists. Water Parameters: To mimic their natural habitat, maintain water temperatures between 72-79°F (22-26°C) with a pH range of 6.0-7.5. Soft to moderately hard water is preferred. Regular water changes and a well-filtered tank are crucial to keep these fish healthy and happy. They are sensitive to poor water conditions, so maintaining a clean tank is essential.Above images for illustration purposes only. Exact colours, patterns, and size may vary between individuals.
